At the helm of Damien on Fisher restaurant and Hudson’s Cafe is owner Damien Hein whose dream of becoming a chef was ignited by a poster of a chef in the careers office at his school. Damien did two weeks work experience at the Hackney Hotel and loved it.
He completed a 4-year apprenticeship at St Paul’s Function Complex where he was exposed to a wide variety of functions and weddings. He also worked at Haven in Glenelg, the Allan Group and by age 24, he owned his first restaurant, “Gourmands of Adelaide” in Magill Road.
“My goal at Fullarton is to provide good, honest food using local fresh produce, great customer service and to add to the vibrant community spirit at Living Choice Fullarton.”
~ Damien Hein
One of the most appreciated facilities at Living Choice Fullarton is the restaurant and cafe, “Damien on Fisher” incorporating Hudsons Coffee. Opening in early March 2015, the restaurant has been receiving high praise, including being a finalist in the Restaurant & Catering SA Awards for Excellence 2015 and top rating reviews on Trip Advisor. The restaurant is licensed and open lunch and dinner 7 days, excluding public holidays.
Last night our travel group dined at your wonderful restaurant and enjoyed the experience very much. The food was exceptional, the service was flawless and the ambience of the dining area was perfect. So many times we have dined at other 5 star facilities to be so disappointed by the inability to hold a meaningful conversation with our friends. Damien on Fisher provides a quiet and extremely comfortable venue to host dinners and I have the utmost confidence organising get-togethers at your premises. Special thanks, must go to the magnificent Chef, Damien and the two front house staff, Matthew and Monica. You have, once again, provided the perfect venue for our group. Thank you!
Superb Beef. We had a dinner there as part of a large group of people last night. Over 100 people. The kitchen and serving staff managed very well. The meals were perfect and all arrived at the correct time at each table. The beef was wonderful. Cooked perfectly and tender and juicy. The salad was also very fresh and tasty. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the meal. Was superb.
I have eaten here many times with excellent meals and service, I would recommend people come in enjoy a wonderful time.
Lovely experience! Very lovely place to Dine with a classy feeling to it, food was amazing and the staff where very friendly. Will return!!
What a treat. Looking forward to visiting again soon. The staff are professional, friendly and very customer focused. Damien changed a selection on the menu to a vegetarian option. The meat in the Thai green curry was replaced with a selection of vegetables and chickpeas. It was just delicious. Every mouthful had something different. My friends had steak and pork; that too looked just great. Lovely staff, great friends, delicious meals, warm atmosphere and a glass of red. Thank you, Damien and your team for a memory to cherish
Adelaide is a city that prides itself in the art of reinvention. This restaurant is part of an upmarket retirement village. It is there to service the residents but is open to the public. The site is very glam, more akin to a 5-star hotel.with stylish furniture and fittings. The food is excellent, it's a limited menu but all items are tasty and appealing. The wine list is small, but adequate.BYO is available at $15 per bottle. There was a sweets menu, but I couldn't do it! The service was pleasant and efficient. A must go when you are in the area, but Google first as you could easily miss it!
We pop in often. Whether it is for a dinner, lunch or (most likely) coffee and cake - the food it excellent and the staff extremely friendly and pleasant. The latest meal visit was a couple of days ago - whiting, chips and salad - beautifully grilled whiting, crisp chips and simple fresh salad - perfect! Today was 4 coffees!
Shared a lunch on a Tuesday with 4 other family members. The meal was delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive. I had a quinoa salad with roast vegies and chicken which I really enjoyed, the other diners had whiting or salt and pepper squid which were also enjoyed. Also shared a lunch on the previous Thursday with 11 friends to celebrate birthdays. The meals on that occasion were also enjoyed by all. You are able to choose between small plates or larger serves. I had a Beetroot salad with chicken which I really enjoyed, and it was a small plate size but more than adequate.
I was lucky enough to win the $200 voucher and took some friends Saturday night for dinner. The service was amazing, the staff very friendly and helpful. We cannot speak highly enough about the food and presentation. Top marks to all. Will definitely go back. Thank you everyone!
I'm a resident at Living Choice Fullarton and so have the pleasure of just going downstairs to eat in Damien on Fisher anytime I like, seven days a week. Last night I had guests for dinner and I ate the crab linguini, and my friend had the pork chop. We beg Damien to never take these off the menu as they are soooo good ! The restaurant is spacious and you can hear yourself speak.
Peaceful, quiet atmosphere...great friendly service, delicious meal. Thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable.
Congratulations to Damien and his staff at Damien on Fisher for a well organised Xmas Fair held Saturday 7th November. What a great idea and opportunity for all the stall holders to display their products. We thoroughly enjoyed our 'board' - the chicken tenderloin and duck thighs were particularly delicious. We will be back for a meal soon!
Had the pleasure to go to your restaurant today...loved it. .pleasant atmosphere...the best waitress I have had in a very long time...great nature efficient and just lovely...a great asset to your business the food excelled the prices great...It was the most lovely day
Comfortable and quite meeting place or just for a quite coffee. A little out of the way but what a gem. Great staff too...
Great food, great price! Lovely staff and atmosphere and close to the city! Highly recommended. We will be back.
Very nice location away from hustle and bustle of the CBD great service and fantastic reasonably priced food. Highly recommend to anyone.
The best of the best. You won't find better food and service in Adelaide. Sizes are generous, staff are incredibly kind and attentive, food presentation is art on a plate. You can taste the love that has gone into each meal.
I have dined here a few times and enjoyed the modern Australian menu on each occasion. There is a varied food offering and friendly service. Not a place to party but great for a good quality meal with friends or family.
Exceptional food and value for money with great service.
Fantastic staff, great environment. Excellent coffee!
Great food, great coffee, lovely staff and helpful. The location is a little out of the way but worth a visit... 🙂
Very good food, quiet and lovely friendly staff
Genteel decor, cafe separate from the dining room. Able to eat in either area here ,or, catch up with friends on a comfy lounge. Food was slightly less pleasing than on other visits I've made. Maybe different chef on the day. Big plus, being able to chat to friends and hear and be heard. Overall, excellent place to dine.
